The Energy Association of Pennsylvania (EAP), a trade association that represents and promotes the interests of regulated electric and natural gas distribution companies operating in Pennsylvania, today announced it has hired the firm of Spencer Stuart to begin the search for a new president and CEO. Spencer Stuart will work with the EAP board of directors to identify the association’s next leader.
Longtime president and CEO Terrance J. Fitzpatrick announced his retirement in March after 15 years. Fitzpatrick has spent more than four decades as an advocate and architect of many of the Commonwealth’s major energy initiatives, including his work to help draft Pennsylvania’s electricity competition law and to promote policies that have increased investments in energy infrastructure.
“EAP is poised to continue its instrumental work making Pennsylvania’s energy utilities the envy of the nation,” said Board Chairwoman Tori Giesler, managing counsel for FirstEnergy Corp. “With Spencer Stuart working to help us select the next president and CEO, we’re confident we’ll find an experienced leader who will continue to provide the expertise, vision and leadership the staff, member organizations, partners and industry experts respect about the EAP. Energy is Pennsylvania’s economic engine, and EAP will continue its focus on supporting the energy reliability, affordability and smart sustainability Pennsylvania’s residents and businesses expect and deserve.”
Over many years, EAP has established itself as a trusted voice advocating policies that balance energy affordability, reliability, economic development, and environmental sustainability. Fitzpatrick will assist with the transition through the end of the year.
